Yasminah is a Somali-American activist, poet, writer, and musician, whose artistic origins began at nine years old. Using art as her gateway, Yasminah’s style uses afro-fusion tunes with melodic vocals to help transport her poetry across borders, transcending the boundaries of everyday social dialogue in Africa and beyond.

Yasminah’s music & poetry pursues awareness and betterment of African social issues including forced marriage, rape, political corruption, tribalism and skin bleaching. Her activist pursuits recently involved organizing and leading outreach youth dialogue forums across Somalia to establish a platform for Somali Youth to discuss the lack of employment opportunities and improved visibility of youth in Somali Politics.
